This year I will be featuring a favorite comfort food illustration and recipe (or uncompensated brand endorsement) each month. I hope you enjoy it. Plus, feel free to e-mail me your recommendations. I’ll try them out and post my favorites.

January starts out the year with hot chocolate. My wife is the true aficionado of the family but I enjoy a good mug-full as well. Many good ways to prepare it but I like Scharfen Berger sweetened cocoa powder with milk. No family recipe here. Just following the directions on the can. It tastes great on a drizzly day here in Seattle. When I’m out, I like the “turtle” hot chocolate from Chocolati Cafe in Walingford. It’s like a liquid truffle. As I mentioned, I haven’t received any kick-backs from Scharfen Berger or Chocolati. But, hey, wouldn’t it be nice?
What’s your favorite?
p.s. of course I’m always looking for new and interesting illustration assignments. So, if something comes up, let me know. Or, if you’re in the neighborhood, maybe we can just get a nice cup of chocolate.
